When I’m not working, I love to bike, hang out with friends and go to the beach. The beach is a quiet place where I can free my mind while listening to the sound of the waves.
Quality is at the centre of what I do at VKR France, where I work in our factory assembling windows. In a shift, I typically go through 7-8 windows to check if the quality is alright. We have 120 check points to go through – fitting, covering etc. If a window is not approved, my job is to find out why and make sure we adjust and improve the production line, together with my colleagues.
We have five areas of production here at VKR France. One for wood components, one for panes, one for flashings, one for assembling the windows and lastly, the logistics building. Each production area has a quality responsible, and we are all in it together to find solutions on quality matters, whether it is the machinery that needs to be optimised or our handling of the machinery and the windows. We meet regularly and I really enjoy that we have to work as a team to solve the problem at hand.

Sometimes we also get claims from customers and then it is my job to determine why and make sure we avoid such claims in the future. We are all really committed to avoid claims and ensure quality is built into our way of working. Besides being a quality responsible, I’m also the key point of contact for safety in the assembly workshop. Safety is closely related to quality, because when we make adjustments or improvements, we also need to take safety into account to avoid unnecessary accidents.
I also really enjoy travelling around the world. In 2013, I went travelling to Morocco with some of my colleagues, organised by the Social Committee of VKR-F. I was really amazed by the contrast between France and Morocco – the different lifestyle and culture – and I love to have such experiences.
