Creating and framing light

Artist Astrid Krogh uses light as an integrated part of her work. Although she is trained in textile design, her fascination with light led her to utilize it in art. She combines both textile and light to create unique designs.

"I use light both as a material and a technology, the presence of light is an essential component of my work as light enables my textiles to pulsate, change patterns and create an entire spectrum of ever changing colour ways,” says Astrid Krogh. Working with light has not only been important in her design, but in her everyday environment as well. While transforming her home and working atelier in Sjællands Odde, Denmark, Astrid wanted to make sure to get the most out the scenic view, while allowing maximum natural light into her living- and workspace. By using the concept of creating and framing the light, she transformed an old barn into a creative and luminous studio.

What is special about this place is that the light is insistently present. And you cannot avoid becoming a part of it because you have it around you all the time.

Throughout her career, Astrid has worked on various Danish and international projects, both in public and private sectors. Her work has been displayed internationally at design fairs, art galleries, and private exhibitions.
