At the launch of the Sustainability Strategy 2030, every employee was promised a tree. As of April 2022, we are excited to announce the realisation of that promise with the employee activation event, Plant a tree. Each location will plan their own Plant a tree campaign which will take place from 2022 to 2025. Across the VELUX Group, all current employees and new hires through 2025 will receive their own tree to plant or donate for planting. Three steps to Plant a tree:
Region South has already kickstarted the project. Approximately 400 trees have been ordered for the different VELUX locations across the region.
Region South has selected apple trees for their robustness and easy maintenance, as well as the fruit bearing element. Prior to the launch of the event, Region South has raised awareness for Plant a tree by holding a webinar to highlight sustainable initiatives across the region and promoted it in the region’s quarterly sustainability newsletter.
After receiving their unique QR codes, the local Facilities departments will begin working closely with local garden suppliers to deliver the trees in Spring 2022. All employees are encouraged to plant the trees in their home gardens or offer their trees to family, friends or colleagues.
